8 Princess Diana's looks to shine this fall

In November, the premiere of the fourth season of the much-talked-of TV series "The Crown" takes place and it is going to be something special. For the first time, two striking characters will appear on the screen - Margaret Thatcher, played by Gillian Anderson and Princess Diana, played by Emma Corrin. The costumes of the latter have a lock on everyone's attention since the images of Lady Di have always been a source of endless inspiration.

“When talking about Princess Diana, we can’t help recalling her incredible fashion images, her ability to combine bold colors as well as wear sportswear to contradict all fashion standards,” says Emma Corrin, noting that she portrayed the “early Diana” when her style was just beginning to form. Everyone is aware of what the princess's fashion experiments led to. The “queen of hearts” also won over the designers and it-girls, having become a world-famous style icon.

Princess Diana’s outfits are being relevant this season as well. In the selection of the Vremena Goda Galleries, there are 8 Diana’s fashion looks that you will be tempted to repeat right now.

Bright retro suit

Costumes occupied a special place in Diana's wardrobe. She was not afraid to go play with shades and wear bright total looks, complementing them with her beloved accessories. One of them was the iconic Chouchou bag, which Dior renamed Lady Dior after the princess began carrying it out both on weekdays and holidays.

Houndstooth

The houndstooth print has been relevant from the 90s to current fall. Having been open to fashion trends, once for a church service, Diana chose a skirt suit that combined black, white and red shades. Her favorite accessories - a hat and gloves completed the fancy look.

Lemon yellow coat

This yellow checkered coat was frequently worn by Diana: for example, she appeared in it at the service at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle in 1987. To balance its brightness, Princess was wearing it with black trousers and matching boots.

Non-standard sweater

Kind of funny sweaters became Diana’s killer feature. In her arsenal, there were models depicting Mickey Mouse as well as deer and sheep. Wearing the latter one, the Princess of Wales went to an equestrian polo match to support Prince Charles. Then the sweater was considered to be a secret message: all the sheep on it were of the white colour, and one was black. It’s as if Princess Diana wanted to send a message that it was not easy to get integrated into the life of the royal family.

Oversized jacket

“Perhaps padded-shoulders are one of the best fashion tricks of the 80s,” Emma Corrin admitted after filming in «The Crown». Jackets and coats with a wide shoulder line could often be seen on Diana, moreover, they suited her perfectly. The best proof is Diana’s look while shopping in Knightsbridge in 1994.

Check

Checks are being especially relevant this season, and you can choose a large check, a small as well as an experimental one. The princess of Wales also adored this print: for example, Diana was wearing a checkered coat with voluminous shoulders during her visit to Venice in May 1985.

Sports casual

Diana Spencer was called “street style queen”, due to her casual looks that are worthy of special attention. She was able to run against the conservative fashion stereotypes of the royal family. Especially when a divorce with Prince Charles became just a matter of time. She presented a similar freedom-loving look during a vacation spent in the commune of Lech in Austria in 1994.

Lingerie style

Not a single Diana’s fashion look could be called boring or standard. A rebel by nature, she was wearing lingerie looks when others couldn't dare it. For example, in December 1996, she appeared wearing a petticoat at a Dior event in New York, as expected having caused a sensation.
