The French jewelry house Cartier having become the main sponsor of the Venice Film Festival establishes its own award - Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker for a special contribution to the modern film industry. Ridley Scott, British director and producer, has become its first winner.
The awards ceremony was timed to the out-of-competition screening of Scott's new movie, The Last Duel, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The plot of the movie unfolds in France in the XIV century.
The Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker award was designed and created by Cartier jewelers and features the panther on a marble plinth, one of the house's iconic symbols.
